About the piece
We wheel-throw this plate from stoneware clay and shape it with a low, balanced profile, so it feels steady in use. Then, we hand-paint the white spiral directly onto the surface. As the artist moves freely and intuitively, each piece develops subtle differences. As a result, the plate remains fully functional while featuring a simple graphic element. Moreover, it adds character without dominating the meal.
Materials & craftsmanship
We craft the plate from high-fired stoneware to ensure durability and suitability for everyday use. First, we apply a dark, food-safe glaze as the base; then, we paint the white spiral by hand, which naturally creates variations. These differences appear in line flow and thickness. Likewise, as with all handmade ceramic pieces, slight changes in glaze tone and decoration form part of the process. Ultimately, they enhance the individuality of each plate.
