About the piece
This decorative tabletop sculpture combines a naturally weathered piece of driftwood with a wheel‑thrown clay medallion. The clay disc features subtle spiral markings that contrast with the wood’s organic lines, while a small seated figure adds a narrative touch. Each composition is unique due to the nature of the materials and the hand‑built approach.
Materials & craftsmanship
The driftwood is cleaned and stabilised before being joined with a hand‑thrown clay disc, which is high‑fired for strength and durability. Food‑safe, matte glaze highlights the ceramic surface without overpowering the piece. Because the wood is reclaimed, no two sculptures are identical; variations in colour, grain and form are intentional and celebrated.
Display & use
Designed solely as a decorative object, this sculpture rests on flat surfaces and functions as a focal point in living rooms, offices or galleries. It works well alone or paired with other ceramic or natural pieces to create a curated vignette. This artwork is not food‑safe and should not be used as a functional tray.
